What Does a Healthy AV Fistula Look Like?

Arteriovenous (AV) fistulas are aberrant connections between an artery and a vein. Blood typically travels from your arteries through your capillaries and veins. Oxygen and nutrients from your capillaries move through your blood to the tissues in your body.

 

Signs and symptoms of an AV fistula include

·       Through their skin, a person can see purple, protruding veins that resemble varicose veins.

·       either the arms or legs are swollen.

·       Lower blood pressure begins to occur

How Long Until My AV Fistula Heals and Maturates?

Complications

An arteriovenous fistula can lead to consequences if left untreated. Some issues could be very serious. These consist of:
